Do you want to finish your quilt tops? Don’t know where to start? This beginner free motion quilting class steps you through preparing your quilt top, what materials to use, how to navigate your machine, the best techniques, and many free motion quilting designs.
Designs include basic stippling, advanced stippling, hearts, flowers, loops, and many more!
We will also work on basic feather techniques. Come learn how to free motion quilt and finish your UFOs.

Skill Details:
Student must have working knowledge of their sewing machine and all general sewing functions such as threading, winding bobbins, etc., as well as knowledge of how to change presser feet on their sewing machine.
Requirements:
Free motion quilting foot. Many machines come with this. If you do not have one contact Sew and Vac to order one for your machine.
2. Quality thread. Auafil, glide, most superior threads work great.
3. Extension table. You will need a flat area to do your quilting. Contact me if you have a built-in table at home, and want a short-term extension table that is inexpensive, but will work for class.
4. Supreme slider. This is really necessary for a quilt to slide over the machine bed.
5. Quilting gloves. This helps you get a better grip on the quilt.
6. Note paper. For notes and for drawing.
7. Mechanical pencil, pen, sharpie or something to mark your quilt
8. We will be working on practice pieces to eliminate any pressure of being perfect. This is a learning class. We will be practicing free motion quilting. You will be able to do it.
9. Different size needles. Topstitch, and microtext needles work well. Different sizes and types can help when there are stitch issues.
10. Quilting sandwiches: Please bring 3 quilting sandwiches. Approximate size 24? x 24?.
- Use muslin, solid or ugly fabric. Choose a contrasting thread so it is easier to see.
- Don?t baste. Pin baste or spray baste. The piece is small enough so it doesn?t need to be basted.
11. MOST IMPORTANT: make sure your machine is in good working order. Please read your manual or go on line so you are familiar with your machine. You need to be able to lower your feed dogs. Some machines have settings for free motion quilting. Take a look at your manual.
